Highly professional and efficient work. From the last minute friendly phone call to arrange the collection to the removal of two sofas in Salford. Tom and James were extremely polite and understanding as well as being more than happy to help, absolute credit to the company. 10/10 would use these guys again.

The Rubbish Removers were superb and are fully licenced waste carriers. They were polite on the phone and in person. They quoted a reasonable price for removal of a 3 seater Chesterfield and 2 armchairs. They rang 30 mins before arrival. They expertly removed the items through an awkward mid-terrace house. Very happy with the service, would use again and would recommend them to anyone needing sofas removed. Thank you very much.

Having never used a house clearance service before I was unsure what to expect. The Rubbish Removers were great. The quotation process was fair and the price I paid was the price I was quoted. The team arrived on time, having confirmed their arrival time a couple of hours earlier. The house was cleared with the minimum of fuss. The house was left in good order with no mess to tidy-up (other than 50+ years of dust). I'd highly recommended The Rubbish Removers if you need a house cleared. 5*!

Junk Removal in Pontefract – We Do The Heavy Lifting
When you book junk removal in Pontefract, you want a fast, reliable team that handles the hard work for you. However, moving bulky items down the narrow stairs of a Georgian townhouse near the market or out of a sturdy red-brick colliery row can be back-breaking and risks damaging your property. Do not struggle with the stairs or worry about scratching your walls. Instead, our uniformed two-man teams are happy to come inside, collect your junk from any room, and do all the heavy lifting for you safely and respectfully.
As an Environment Agency Registered Upper Tier Waste Carrier (Licence CBDU409710), The Rubbish Removers provide a completely legal and ethical junk removal service for local homes and businesses. We are proud to be Which? Trusted Traders and Trading Standards Approved Buy With Confidence members, ensuring your waste is disposed of with a full Duty of Care and a high landfill diversion rate. You can have complete peace of mind throughout the process. Finally, for a rapid response, call our West Yorkshire regional office on 0113 450 8477 or alternatively, WhatsApp a photo of your junk to 07802 860 731 for an instant fixed quote.
Why Choose Us for Junk Removal in Pontefract?
We Collect From Inside:
Unlike standard curbside collections, our teams will come right into your lounge, kitchen, cellar, or upstairs bedroom to retrieve your bulky waste.
Protection & Care:
Our local crews know how to navigate the tight access of traditional terraced properties. We use proper protection to ensure floors, walls, and doorways are carefully looked after throughout the removal process.
Speed:
If you need a quick turnaround, we offer a same-day service option if you call early. We plan our local routes carefully to avoid the afternoon retail rush around M62 Junction 32.
Complete Tidy Up:
Once everything is out of the property, we sweep through and leave spaces clean and clear so your room is instantly ready to use.
The Rubbish Removers vs. Wakefield Council Bulk Collection

What We Take (Junk Removal)
Household Junk: Old sofas, mattresses, broken bed frames, and also general black bag waste.
Heavy Appliances: American style fridges, washing machines, and freezers. We ensure correct WEEE recycling for all electricals.
Furniture: Heavy wooden wardrobes, dining tables, and awkward sectionals.
Typical Load Sizes & Pricing Guide
- Single Item: Prices start from £80+vat. For example, this is ideal for a standalone bulky item like an old mattress or wardrobe. It’s cheaper and much faster than waiting for a council bulky waste collection.
- Quarter Van Load: Roughly 20 to 30 bin bags or 2 to 3 cubic yards. It’s a great option for clearing out a box room or an under-stairs cupboard.
- Half Van Load: Roughly 6 cubic yards or 50 to 60 bin bags. In comparison, this offers a similar capacity to a standard 6-yard builder’s skip, but importantly, with no permit fees and no skip sitting on your street.
- Full Van Load: 12 to 14 cubic yards or 100+ bin bags. Finally, this is suitable for a full house clearance or large amounts of accumulated junk.
You also only pay for the exact volume you use, unlike skip hire where you pay for fresh air.
Get a Firm Price: Send a photo of your pile to 07802 860 731.
Typical Jobs in Pontefract
Town Centre Clearance:
This job was completed via a Wait & Load service. It avoided the need for an expensive skip permit on the narrow market streets.
Garage Overhaul in Chequerfield:
In another case, we removed accumulated household junk and old tools from a post-war estate property. Meanwhile, we kept the shared driveway completely clear and safe while we worked.
Renovation Debris Removal near Glasshoughton:
Similarly, we cleared heavy rubble and old fixtures from a colliery row terrace. We timed our loading carefully to dodge the notorious M62 Junction 32 traffic.

- We Remove and Clean: Afterwards, we safely carry your junk out of the property and navigate tight corridors with care. We sweep away any settled dust from your old mining terrace or garage so it is perfectly tidy.
- Recycling: Finally, we email a digital Waste Transfer Note the same day. This guarantees ethical disposal with most items recycled or donated to local charities.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Do I need to get the item to the ground floor? A: Absolutely not. Our 2-man team happily collects from upstairs bedrooms, basements, or apartments. We do all the heavy lifting safely so you do not have to lift a finger.
Q: Is your disposal legal? A: Yes. We are fully insured and our Licence is CBDU409710. Every job comes with a proper Waste Transfer Note so you have a full record for your files.
Q: Does Wakefield Council collect from inside my house? A: No. Wakefield Council is strict on kerbside collections only. This is physically difficult for residents living in Pontefract’s dense colliery rows and terraced streets where dragging heavy items out front is a major hassle.
Q: Can I take my own junk to the Welbeck tip? A: While the Welbeck site is an option, it is a vast former colliery site that can be confusing to navigate. Wakefield Council also requires specific tip permits for vans. Using our service skips the queues and the permit headaches entirely.
