I've used The Rubbish Removers twice now. Both times they have turned up when they said they would, and have been quick and polite. They removed an old glass greenhouse without leaving any glass fragments or breaking any of the panes.

Fantastic! The team took our large sofa away no fuss. We live on a narrow street and have an awkward shaped house to get things in and out of but it was no trouble for them. They were extremely polite and did a fantastic job. Highly recommended!

Excellent service. Within 24 hours of booking my old fridge/freezer was collected by Wez & Jimbo. Could not ask for better service. 👍

Fridge Removal in Leeds – We Do The Heavy Lifting
Reliable Fridge Removal in Leeds is often a logistical nightmare, especially if you are navigating the narrow staircases of a Headingley HMO or managing the strict service lift restrictions of a city centre loft. The Rubbish Removers Ltd provides a professional, fully licensed solution that takes the weight off your shoulders. We are also an Environment Agency Registered carrier (Licence No. CBDU409710), ensuring your old appliance is handled legally and ethically without you needing to lift a finger.
As a family-run business serving West Yorkshire, we also understand the specific challenges of local housing, from the back-to-back terraces in Harehills to modern apartments near the Royal Armouries. You can reach our local team on 0113 450 8477. You can also send us a photo of your appliance to 07802 860 731 for an instant quote. We are also proud to be a Which? Trusted Trader and a Trading Standards Approved “Buy With Confidence” member, guaranteeing a service that is safe, compliant and transparent.
Why Choose Us for Fridge Removal in Leeds?
We Collect From Inside: Unlike Leeds City Council, which typically requires you to drag your heavy appliance to the pavement, our uniformed teams come directly into your kitchen, utility room or cellar. We are happy to come inside and do the lifting, meaning you don’t have to struggle with heavy white goods through tight hallways or down steep steps.
Protection & Care: We treat your property with respect. Our two-man teams are experienced in manoeuvring awkward American-style fridges and chest freezers around tight corners without scratching your walls or damaging door frames. We take care when moving bulky items and use protection where needed to look after flooring and lifts, which is vital for high-spec city apartments.
Same-Day Service Available: If your new fridge is being delivered today and you need the old one gone immediately, we can help. We often provide a same-day response to enquiries, acting as an emergency service for waste to ensure you aren’t left with a cluttered kitchen.
All Styles Taken: We handle every type of refrigeration unit, from standard under-counter fridges to colossal American-style fridge freezers and commercial display cabinets. We ensure that 100% of these units are degassed and recycled at authorised treatment facilities.

What We Take (Fridge Removal)
We collect as well as recycle a wide range of cooling appliances in Leeds, ensuring full compliance with WEEE Recycling regulations:
– Domestic Fridges: Under-counter units, tall larder fridges and also integrated models (if disconnected before arrival).
– Freezers: Chest freezers (even from cellars) as well as upright freezers.
– Combined Units: American-style fridge freezers and also side-by-side units.
– Commercial: Display chillers, bottle coolers as well as catering fridges.
Typical Load Sizes & Pricing Guide
We also offer transparent pricing based on the specific item and volume. You never pay for “fresh air” as you would with a skip; you only pay for the item we remove.
Single Item
- Prices start from £80+VAT.
- Perfect for a single bulky American fridge, a chest freezer or a sofa.
- Cheaper and significantly faster than organising a skip or waiting for a council slot.
Quarter Van Load
- Roughly 20-30 bin bags/2-3 cubic yards.
- Ideal if you are clearing a fridge along with a small pile of kitchen renovation waste (e.g. old cupboard doors and packaging).
Half Van Load
- Roughly 6 cubic yards.
- Comparable to a builders skip, perfect for a full kitchen rip-out including all white goods.
Full Van Load
- A massive 12-14 cubic yards capacity (approximately 2 x 8-yard skips)
- In other words, this is suitable for large-scale house clearances.

Typical Jobs in Leeds
• Student Clearance in Headingley: We removed a large, damaged fridge-freezer from a second-floor student HMO. Our team navigated the narrow stairwell safely, saving the landlord from potential damage to the property during the “changeover” period.
• Apartment Collection in Leeds City Centre: A customer in a loft near the Corn Exchange needed an integrated fridge removed. We utilised the service lift and provided a “Wait & Load” service to avoid parking fines on the restricted city streets.
• Cellar Clearance in Harehills: We hauled a heavy, rusted chest freezer out of a cellar in a back-to-back terrace. The tight access made it impossible for the owner to move it alone, but our team managed the extraction and swept up the dust afterwards.
How It Works
1. Get a Quote: Give us a call on 0113 450 8477 or fill in our contact form. You can WhatsApp a photo of your fridge to 07802 860 731.
2. We Arrive: Our two-man team arrives in Leeds within a specific window. We give you a quick call 30 minutes ahead so you aren’t waiting around.
3. We Remove: We carefully disconnect your appliance (if plumbed/plugged in) and carry it out from your kitchen, cellar or garage using safe manual handling techniques.
4. Recycling: You receive a Waste Transfer Note immediately. Your fridge is taken to a licensed transfer station where it is safely degassed and recycled, diverting hazardous materials from landfill.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Do I need to get the fridge to the ground floor?
A: No. Our professional two-man teams will collect your fridge from anywhere in the property, including upstairs apartments, basements or first-floor kitchens. We do all the heavy lifting so you don’t risk injury or damage to your home.
Q: Do you take large or awkward items like American Fridges?
A: Yes. We have the vehicles, manpower and equipment to handle large American-style units. Please let us know when booking if the doors need to be removed to fit through your property’s doorways so we can allocate the right time and tools.
Q: Does Leeds City Council collect from inside my house?
A: Generally, no. The council’s bulky waste collection is strictly pavement only. For residents in Leeds’ back-to-back terraces or apartments where leaving items on the street is difficult or unsafe, this can be a major issue. However, we solve this by entering the property to collect the item directly.
Q: I live on a narrow street in Harehills/Headingley, can you still help?
A: Yes. We know that parking in high-density areas like Harehills or near the student digs in Headingley can be very tight. Our waste removal vans are much more mobile than skip lorries, allowing us to park legally and load quickly without blocking the road.
Q: Can I take my own fridge to the Kirkstall or Seacroft tip?
A: You can, but be aware that Leeds HWRC sites like Kirkstall often require booking a slot in advance, and they can be notoriously busy. Transporting a fridge upright in a standard car is dangerous and often impossible. We save you the hassle, the queue and the heavy lifting.
