I have had a couple of bookings with The Rubbish Removers in the past six months (once for a corner sofa and recently for a mattress) and they’ve been great! They were flexible on the dates, on time and professional. Would definitely recommend!

Why Choose Us for Sofa Removal in Kirklees?
We Collect From Inside: We are also happy to come inside and do the lifting. Forget dragging a heavy corner sofa down a steep stone terrace in Huddersfield. Our in-house staff collect from any room, whether it is a front lounge, a cellar or a third-floor flat.
Protection & Care: Navigating the narrow doors as well as tight staircases of historic weavers cottages requires skill. Floors, walls and doorways are looked after carefully by our experienced crews, preventing scuffs and scratches while removing bulky furniture.
Emergency Same-Day Service: If your new suite is arriving today and you urgently need the space, we offer fast same-day or next-day responses. We provide specific AM or PM slots with a 30-minute call ahead so you are not left waiting.
All Styles Taken: We dismantle and remove all variations, including sectionals, heavy recliners, Chesterfields and sofa beds. We can even take old armchairs and bed frames at the same time to leave your space completely clear.

What We Take
- Sectionals and also large corner suites
- Heavy mechanical recliners as well as massage chairs
- Traditional Chesterfields and also two-seater settees
- Bulky sofa beds and also futons
- Armchairs, pouffes as well as matching living room furniture
Typical Load Sizes & Pricing Guide
- Single Item: Prices start from £80+VAT. Ideal for a standalone bulky item like a three-seater sofa, a heavy recliner or a fridge. Cheaper and faster than council collections.
- Quarter Van Load: Perfect if you are clearing out a full living room suite (a three-seater and two armchairs) along with a few bags of household clutter.
- Half Van Load: Comparable capacity to a standard builders skip. Ideal for a larger lounge clearance, taking multiple sofas, bookcases and old carpets.
- Full Van Load: Equivalent to 14 cubic yards. Suitable for full property clearances, managing multiple heavy furniture items from every room.
You only pay for the exact volume your furniture takes up in our van. Get a free quote today by sending a photo of your sofa to 07802 860 731.
How It Works
- Get a Quote: Give us a call or fill in our contact form. You can also WhatsApp a photo of the item to 07802 860 731 for an instant, free quote.
- We Arrive: Our polite, uniformed 2-man team arrives in your chosen time window, navigating the tricky hills and narrow lanes of Kirklees with ease.
- We Remove: We carefully carry your old sofa out of the property. We plan our routes through tight terrace doorways to ensure your woodwork and walls remain pristine.
- Recycling: We sweep up any dust left behind and issue you a Waste Transfer Note. Your old furniture is then taken to a licensed facility for proper processing.
Typical Jobs in Kirklees
- Sofa Collection in Huddersfield: We removed a heavy corner sofa from a stone terrace on a steep hillside. Our two-man team carried the item directly from the lounge, bypassing the need to balance a heavy load on steep, uneven ground.
- Living Room Clearance in Dewsbury: We cleared a three-piece suite and old carpets using our quick wait-and-load service. The narrow mill town streets meant parking a skip was impossible, but our mobile vans handled the tight access easily.
- Cellar Furniture Removal in Holmfirth: We navigated a tight, steep staircase to clear an old sofa bed from a cellar. Our crew protected the walls and managed all the lifting, saving the homeowner a physically demanding job.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Do I need to get the item to the ground floor?
A: Absolutely not. Our experienced two-man team collects from upstairs bedrooms, basements or flats, doing all the heavy lifting safely and carefully.
Q: Do you take large or awkward items like heavy recliners or corner sofas?
A: Yes, we handle all types of bulky furniture. We carry the right tools to dismantle oversized sectionals or sofa beds if they are too large to fit through your doorways fully assembled.
Q: Is your disposal legal?
A: Yes, we are also a fully insured, Upper Tier Waste Carrier (Licence CBDU409710). We provide a Duty of Care Waste Transfer Note on every job, guaranteeing your items are recycled legally.
Q: Does Kirklees Council collect from inside my house?
A: No, council collections are strictly pavement only. This is highly impractical for many Kirklees residents living in stone terraces clinging to hillsides, as dragging heavy furniture to the pavement is physically dangerous. We solve this by coming directly into your lounge.
Q: I live on a narrow mill town street in Kirklees, can you still help?
A: Yes, we are experts at navigating tight local roads. We also know that finding level ground for a skip on a steep Kirklees hill is rare, which is why our responsive Man and Van Clearance service is the perfect Skip Hire Alternative. We load directly into our vehicles without causing neighbourhood friction.
Q: Can I take my own sofa to the local Kirklees tip?
A: You can take household items to local tips like Emerald Street in Huddersfield or Weaving Lane in Dewsbury, but Kirklees tips are very strict on limits and often require permits for vans. Booking our service completely removes the hassle of hiring a van.
