The Rubbish Removers just helped me to clear out our Sheffield office at very short notice. Tom, Cameron & Jimbo were all great, and dismantled a mixture of office furniture / scrap metal / general waste very quickly and efficiently. I would highly recommend The Rubbish Removers!

I have had a couple of bookings with The Rubbish Removers in the past six months (once for a corner sofa and recently for a mattress) and they’ve been great! They were flexible on the dates, on time and professional. Would definitely recommend!

Mattress Removal in Wakefield, We Do The Heavy Lifting
Mattress Removal in Wakefield is what we do best, taking the back breaking hassle out of replacing your old bed. Also moving a heavy, floppy king-size mattress down narrow stairs in Wakefield’s traditional terraced housing and colliery rows is a difficult task. So do not struggle with the stairs yourself. Our professional two man team will collect your old bed from any room in the property, therefore saving your back and protecting your walls.
Additionally as a fully licensed Environment Agency Registered carrier (Licence CBDU409710), we handle your bulky waste collection legally, safely, and efficiently. We are also proud to be a Which? Trusted Trader and Trading Standards Approved Buy With Confidence member, providing a reliable service across West Yorkshire. Why Choose Us for Mattress Removal in Wakefield?
We Collect From Inside:
Unlike Wakefield Council, which demands items are left at the curb side, our uniformed staff come right into your bedroom and do the heavy lifting for you.
Protection & Care:
Navigating tight corners and narrow staircases in red brick terraces is our expertise. We also look after your floors, walls, and banisters. We use proper protection to ensure your home remains pristine while moving awkward beds.
Speed:
We offer fast, same day options subject to availability. Therefore, if your new mattress is arriving today, we can clear the old one out of the way immediately. We even call you 30 minutes before we arrive so you are not left waiting around.
Bed Frames Included:
We do not just take mattresses. We can also dismantle and remove headboards, heavy wooden frames, and memory foam toppers all in one go.

What We Take (Mattress Removal)
Memory foam and pocket sprung mattresses.
King size, super king, double, and single mattresses.
Divan bases and heavy wooden bed frames.
Headboards, bedding, and also bedroom furniture.
Typical Load Sizes & Pricing Guide
We provide transparent pricing based on the exact volume your items take up in our vans. You therefore only pay for the space you fill, which is far more cost effective than standard skip hire.
Single Item: Prices start from £80+vat. So ideal for a standalone bulky item like a king size mattress or a heavy divan base.
Quarter Van Load: Perfect for a complete bedroom update, taking away the mattress, frame, and a couple of bedside tables.
Half Van Load: Great for a large master bedroom clear out, including multiple beds, wardrobes, and chest of drawers.
Full Van Load: Suitable for a full property clearance or multiple bedrooms being emptied at once.
Get a Firm Price: Send a photo of your old bed to our WhatsApp on 07802 860 731.
Typical Jobs in Wakefield
Bedroom Update in Castleford:
We removed a heavy memory foam mattress and divan base directly from a first-floor bedroom to avoid the customer struggling on tight stairs.
Bulky Waste Collection in Pontefract
Our two-man team cleared an old super king bed frame and mattress from a narrow colliery row, using our agile vans to navigate the tight street parking.
House Clearance in Wakefield Centre:
We extracted multiple single mattresses and headboards from a red brick terrace, also providing a rapid wait and load service where a skip was impossible.
How It Works
1. Get a Quote: Give us a call on 0113 450 8477, fill in our contact form, or WhatsApp a photo of your mattress to 07802 860 731.
2. We Arrive: Our friendly, two man team arrives within a specific time window. We will also always give you a quick call when we are on the way.
3. We Remove: We navigate your stairs carefully, remove the mattress from your bedroom, and pack it securely into our van.
4. Recycling: We sweep up any dust left under the bed so the room is ready to use. Your old mattress is then processed legally, therefore supporting our high landfill diversion rate.
Areas We Cover in Wakefield
We provide fast, local coverage across Wakefield and the immediate surrounding districts. This also includes Castleford, Pontefract, Normanton, Ossett, Horbury, and Stanley.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Do I need to get the item to the ground floor? A: No, you can leave it exactly where it is. Our two-man team collects from upstairs bedrooms, basements, or apartments, therefore doing all the lifting safely.
Q: Do you take large or awkward items like heavy divan bases? A: Yes, we have the vehicles and tools to handle extra large mattresses, heavy bed frames, and also bulky headboards without causing any damage to your property.
Q: Is your disposal legal? A: Yes, we are an Environment Agency Registered carrier (Licence CBDU409710). We provide a Waste Transfer Note every time, ensuring your Duty of Care is met and the waste is recycled legally.
Q: Does Wakefield Council collect from inside my house? A: No, Wakefield Council is strict on curb side only collection. You also have to carry the mattress out to the street yourself, which is physically difficult for residents living in Wakefield’s traditional terraced properties.
Q: I live on a narrow street in Wakefield, can you still help? A: Yes, we know that access in the older mining villages around Castleford and Pontefract can be tight. Our local crews know the roads well and our vans are much more mobile than skip lorries.
Q: Can I take my own mattress to the local tip? A: You can, but Wakefield Council requires tip permits if you are using a borrowed van. So save yourself the paperwork, the fuel, and the heavy lifting by letting our professional team clear it for you.
