Easy to use service from booking to collection of the mattresses. Quick responses when booking, great communication throughout. On the day, prompt collection by two very pleasant lads ( despite the sudden hailstorm!!) An excellent, efficient service at a very fair price. Thanks a lot.

Mattress Removal in Rochdale – We Do The Heavy Lifting
Providing professional mattress removal in Rochdale is our specialty, so you never have to struggle with maneuvering heavy, awkward items down narrow staircases or tight hallways. The Rubbish Removers Ltd, a fully licensed and insured operator (Environment Agency Waste Carrier License CBDU409710), serves households across Rochdale with efficiency and care. As a Which? Trusted Trader and member of the Trading Standards “Buy With Confidence” scheme, we offer a safe, ethical alternative to hiring a skip or waiting for council collections.
Based locally in the North West, our uniformed two-man teams handle everything from single memory foam mattresses to full bed frame dismantlement and removal. We operate daily throughout Rochdale and the surrounding areas, including Milnrow and Littleborough, ensuring fast response times and transparent pricing. To arrange a collection or get a free estimate, call our regional office on 0161 339 7938 or send a photo of your item via WhatsApp to 07802 860 731 for an instant quote.
Why Choose Us for Mattress Removal in Rochdale?
Removing a mattress in Rochdale often presents specific logistical challenges, particularly given the town’s abundance of Victorian red-brick terraces and the high-density “terraced grids” near the town centre. Unlike other services that require you to drag items to the curb, we handle the entire process from inside your property.
We Collect From Inside
Unlike Rochdale Council’s curbside-only bulky waste collection, dragging a king-size mattress through narrow hallways or down steep stairs is physically demanding and risks property damage. Our team comes directly into your bedroom, does the heavy lifting and removes the item safely.
Protection & Care
We treat your home with respect. For example, our crews navigate tight corners and narrow landings typical of Rochdale’s housing stock without scuffing walls or damaging banisters. We use protection where needed to safeguard flooring and doorways.
Same-Day Service Available
In addition, if your new bed is being delivered today, you cannot afford to have the old one taking up space. We often provide same-day collection, acting as an “Emergency Service” for your waste.
Comprehensive Removal
Finally, we don’t just take the mattress. We can dismantle and remove old bed frames, divan bases and headboards in the same visit, clearing the room completely for your new furniture.
The Rubbish Removers vs. Rochdale Council Bulk Collection
While the local authority offers a collection service, it is often not suitable for residents who need quick internal collection or cannot physically move heavy items to the street.
| Feature | The Rubbish Removers | Rochdale Council |
|---|---|---|
| Collection Point | Any Room / Upstairs | Curbside Only (You drag it out) |
| Speed | Same Day / 24 Hours | Booking Required (Can be weeks wait) |
| Heavy Lifting | 2-Man Team Included | Zero Assistance |
| Item Limits | We take Multiple Items | Strict Item Limits & Paid Service |
| Weather Risk | None (Collected inside) | Must not be wet/sodden on collection |
What We Take
We handle all types of beds and also bedding materials, ensuring they are diverted from landfill whenever possible.

Typical Load Sizes & Pricing Guide
Our pricing is transparent and based on volume. You only pay for the space you fill, which makes us a cost-effective skip hire alternative for single bulky items.
- Single Item: From £80+VAT – For example, ideal for a standalone mattress or bulky wardrobe. This means it’s often faster and more convenient than waiting for a council collection slot.
- Quarter Van Load: Roughly 20–30 bin bags / 2–3 cubic yards – Additionally, perfect for disposing of a double bed, mattress and a bedside cabinet in one trip.
- Half Van Load: Roughly 6 cubic yards – Equivalent to a standard builders’ skip, but without permit fees or risk of driveway damage. Ideal for clearing a master bedroom, including wardrobes and carpets.
- Full Van Load: 12–14 cubic yards – Finally, suitable for a full house clearance or emptying a large apartment efficiently and safely.

Typical Jobs in Rochdale
We cover the entire borough, adapting our methods to suit the local environment:
Mattress Disposal – Littleborough
For example, we removed a Super King mattress from a stone farmhouse. Fortunately, our mobile van navigated the rural lane and we carried it down a narrow spiral staircase.
Bed Frame Removal – Rochdale Town Centre
We cleared a divan base in the terraced grid. Because parking was tight, we used a “Wait & Load” approach, avoiding road obstruction or permit issues.
Clearance – Milnrow
We removed a memory foam mattress and old carpet from a third-floor apartment. Since the lift was small, our team carried the items down the stairs, ensuring communal areas were left tidy.
How It Works
1. Get a Quote – First, give us a call on 0161 339 7938 or you can also WhatsApp a photo of the mattress to 07802 860 731.
2. We Arrive – Next, our uniformed 2-man team arrives within your specified time window. We give you a quick call ahead so you aren’t left waiting.
3. We Remove – Then, we dismantle the bed frame (if required) and carefully carry the mattress out, ensuring walls and paintwork are fully protected.
4. Recycling – You then receive a Waste Transfer Note immediately. Most of the furniture and bedding we collect is recycled at licensed transfer stations, supporting a greener future!

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to get the item to the ground floor?
No. Our professional team collects from upstairs bedrooms, lofts, or basements. You do not have to risk injury while handling heavy items like memory foam mattresses, which can be difficult to manage alone.
Do you take large or awkward items?
Yes. For example, we have the vehicles and tools to handle large, bulky items. Additionally, if a bed frame needs dismantling to fit through the door, we can do that for you on-site.
Is your disposal legal?
Absolutely. We are an Environment Agency Registered carrier (CBDU409710). You will receive a Duty of Care Waste Transfer Note upon completion, proving your waste has been handled legally and responsibly.
Does Rochdale Council collect from inside my house?
Generally, no. Unlike our service, the council is strictly curbside. Residents in terraced properties may find it difficult to leave a mattress outside without blocking the path or risking it getting wet, which could lead to rejection.
I live on a narrow street in the Rochdale terraced grid, can you still help
Yes. For instance, parking in high-density terraced streets can be tight. However, our vans are more mobile than large council refuse trucks or skip lorries, allowing us to park briefly, load quickly and leave without causing major disruption.
