Cameron and Stu were super nice and did a great job of removing my fridge freezer from the house without any damage.
Tiki B.1 May 2025 · Google review
Really quick and easy process as they collected a fridge from our basement which we'd 'inherited' from a house purchase. The two people who came to collect were great and were super careful navigating the fridge out of the house.
Andrew G.18 March 2025 · Google review
Excellent service from my initial enquiry through to completion. I was very struck by the quiet, pleasant efficiency of the team when they were carrying out the removal of two bulky items. Highly recommended!

Why Choose Us for Bulky Waste Collection in Lancashire?
Attempting to move large items yourself can be a logistical nightmare, especially given the diverse housing stock across Lancashire. From the narrow, cobbled back streets of Burnley to the restricted parking zones of Blackpool’s promenade, our local crews know the area and how to navigate it safely.
• We Collect From Inside: Most council collections in Lancashire are strictly pavement only, meaning you have to haul heavy sofas or appliances out yourself. However, we come into your lounge, kitchen or bedroom and do all the heavy lifting for you.
• Protection & Care: We treat your home with respect. Our uniformed staff are trained to manoeuvre bulky furniture through tight terraced hallways and also around awkward corners without scratching your walls or damaging flooring.
• Same-Day Service Available: If your new sofa is arriving today and you need the old one gone, we can often provide an immediate response. We are the emergency service for waste, helping you reclaim your space instantly.
• All Styles Taken: Whether it’s a cumbersome corner sofa, a heavy American-style fridge freezer or a king-size memory foam mattress, we have the vehicles and manpower to handle it.
The Rubbish Removers vs. Local Council Bulk Collection
Many residents find that council collection services in Lancashire (such as those in Blackburn with Darwen or Preston) have strict limitations. Here is how we compare:
| Feature | The Rubbish Removers | Local Council Services |
|---|---|---|
| Collection Point | Any Room/Upstairs/Cellar | Pavement Only (You drag it out) |
| Speed | Same Day/24 Hours | Booking Required (Often weeks wait) |
| Heavy Lifting | 2-Man Team Included | Zero Assistance |
| Item Limits | We take Multiple Items | Strict Item Limits (often 3-5 items) |
| Fixtures | We take Bathroom/Kitchen rip-outs | Refused (Construction waste banned) |
What We Take (Bulky Waste Collection)

Bed frames (dismantled if needed), Memory foam mattresses, Headboards, Sofa beds.
Appliances
American-style fridges, Chest freezers, Washing machines and also Tumble dryers (all WEEE Recycling compliant).
Large Fixtures
Old bathroom suites, Kitchen cupboards, Carpets and also Underlay.
Typical Load Sizes & Pricing Guide
Our pricing is transparent and based on volume and weight. You only pay for the space you fill on our truck, making us a smart Skip Hire Alternative for bulky items.
- Single Item: Prices start from £80+VAT. Ideal for a standalone bulky item like a fridge, sofa or wardrobe. Cheaper and faster than hiring a skip.
- Quarter Van Load: Roughly 20-30 bin bags/ 2-3 cubic yards. This is perfect for clearing out a box room or removing a dismantled bed and mattress.
- Half Van Load: Roughly 6 cubic yards. Comparable capacity to a standard builders skip. This is ideal for a master bedroom clear-out or a small kitchen strip-out.
- Full Van Load: 12-14 cubic yards. In other words, this is equivalent to roughly 2 standard 8-yard skips. Suitable for full house clearances or large office strip-outs.

Typical Jobs in Lancashire
We cover the entire county, adapting our methods to suit the specific location.
• Student Clearance in Preston: We cleared desks, beds as well as old sofas from a student HMO near UCLan. We used a “Wait & Load” service to avoid suspending parking bays in the permit-controlled zones of Plungington.
• Terrace Clearance in Blackburn: A customer needed a heavy three-piece suite removed from a property on a steep street. Our team safely chocked the vehicle and manoeuvred the furniture out of the narrow front door without blocking the pavement.
• Hotel Clearance in Blackpool: We removed twenty old mattresses and bed frames from a B&B near the Promenade. Our team worked quickly to clear the items before guest check-in time, avoiding the strict “trade waste” suspicion often found at the local tip.
• Renovation Waste in Burnley: Collected a bathroom suite and rubble from a “2-up 2-down” terrace. The back street was too cobbled and narrow for a skip lorry, but our agile vans accessed the rear for easy loading.
How It Works
We have also streamlined our process to be as simple and efficient as possible.
1. Get a Quote: Give us a call on 0161 339 7938 or WhatsApp a photo of your item to 07802 860 731.
2. We Arrive: Our uniformed two-man team arrives in a specific time slot, giving you a call 30 minutes ahead so you are not waiting around.
3. We Remove: We carefully disconnect appliances or dismantle furniture if required, then carry everything out to our tracked vehicle.
4. Recycling: You receive a Waste Transfer Note immediately. We ensure most furniture and waste is recycled at licensed transfer stations.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Do I need to get the item to the ground floor?
A: No. Our professional team collects from upstairs, basements or apartments. We do all the lifting safely, which is particularly helpful in Lancashire’s many multi-storey terraced properties where moving heavy items down steep stairs can be dangerous.
Q: Do you take large/awkward items like American Fridges?
A: Yes. We have the vehicles and equipment to handle large items. We also ensure that fridges are degassed and recycled in accordance with hazardous waste protocols.
Q: Does the Council collect from inside my house?
A: Generally, no. Most councils in Lancashire, including Preston City Council and Blackburn with Darwen Council, operate a strictly pavement only service. This can be difficult if you live in a terraced street where leaving items on the pavement blocks access or attracts fly-tipping.
Q: Can I take my own sofa or building waste to the local tip?
A: You can, but be careful. Many HWRC sites in Lancashire, such as Tom Benson Way in Preston or George Street West in Blackburn, have strict rules. They often require appointments, enforce limits on “inert waste” (like DIY rubble) and aggressively check for van permits. If you borrow a van, you may be turned away. We save you this hassle.
Q: I live on a narrow street in a mill town, can you still help?
A: Yes. We know that parking in areas like Burnley or the steep streets of Darwen can be tight. Our vans are more mobile than skip lorries and can usually get much closer to your door for efficient loading.
