The Rubish Removers get full marks from me. What seemed like an impossible task of removing my late dad’s shed and its contents, was made easy by this company. This was no ordinary shed, it had been lovingly built by dad in a way only he could do… there were some surprises uncovered along the way as dismantling progressed. But the 3, may I say delightful gentleman doing the work, took all in their stride. The guys were professional, hard working, friendly but also in-tune to the fact that this job had an emotional aspect to it for us and for my 92 year old mum. Again, the respect the guys gave mum was so warming to see. I wanted to also say that the job starts on that first enquiry made and despite it being a Sunday, I received an email from Kane in Operations which was very impressive. This level of service from him continued right up to completion of the work. So to recap, 10/10 for the team at The Rubbish Removers.

Why Choose Us for Mattress Removal in Halifax?
- We Collect From Inside: Unlike local council collections that require your items to be left at the curbside, we come right into your bedroom. We do all the heavy lifting and tidy up after ourselves.
- Protection & Care: Navigating the famous verticality and narrow staircases of Halifax is our speciality. We take great care when moving awkward mattresses, using protective equipment where needed to look after your flooring, walls and doorways.
- Speed: We provide AM or PM slots with a quick call ahead so you are never left waiting. Emergency same-day options are available, ensuring we clear your old mattress before your new one arrives.
- Bed Frame Removal Included: We take all styles of beds, from heavy memory foam to super king mattresses. We also completely dismantle and remove wooden, metal or divan bed frames and headboards.

Typical Load Sizes & Pricing Guide
SINGLE ITEM:
Prices start from £80 + VAT. This is ideal for a standalone bulky item such as a heavy memory foam mattress or a large bed frame. It’s often cheaper and faster than a council bulky collection.
QUARTER VAN LOAD:
Roughly 20–30 bin bags / 2–3 cubic yards. For example, this is perfect for clearing out a box room and removing a mattress, frame, and bedside cabinets.
HALF VAN LOAD:
Roughly 6 cubic yards. For example, this is comparable to a standard builders skip but with no permit fees, making it ideal for a large master bedroom clear-out.
FULL VAN LOAD:
12–14 cubic yards / 800kg payload. This option is suitable for full house clearances or multi-bedroom strip-outs.

Typical Jobs in Halifax
Bedroom Clearance in Skircoat Green: We cleared a heavy king-size mattress as well as the divan base using our quick Wait & Load service, easily avoiding the need to drag items down steep, narrow stairs and through tight access points.
Apartment Move-Out in Halifax Centre: We removed multiple mattresses and also the bed frames from a modern valley-side apartment, carefully protecting shared lifts and communal corridors while safely handling all bulky items from inside the property.
Probate Clearance near Shibden: We collected old beds and bedroom furniture from a large Victorian villa, safely navigating a steep driveway and difficult access where placing a traditional skip would have been completely impractical.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to get the item to the ground floor?
No, absolutely not. Our professional 2-man team collects directly from upstairs bedrooms, basements or high-rise apartments, doing all the heavy lifting safely so you do not have to struggle.
Do you take large/awkward items like super king mattresses or heavy wooden frames?
Yes, we do. We have the vehicles and equipment to handle large and awkward items. Our team will also happily dismantle bed frames before carefully removing them from the property.
Is your disposal legal?
Yes. We are an Upper Tier Waste Carrier and provide a Duty of Care Waste Transfer Note with every single collection. We guarantee 100% legal recycling at a licensed transfer station.
Does Calderdale Council collect from inside my house?
No, council collections are strictly curbside only. This can be especially difficult, particularly in Halifax where many homes are tall over-and-under stone terraces with steep steps.
I live on a narrow street in Halifax, can you still help?
Yes we can. For example, we understand that parking and access on the extreme gradients of Halifax can be tight. Our vans are highly mobile and perfect for rapid Wait & Load access, safely navigating steep valley roads where skips simply cannot go.
Can I take my own mattress to the Milner Royd tip?
You can, but however, the Milner Royd facility is located at the bottom of a steep hill, which can be difficult to access and is often challenging in icy winter conditions. It’s usually easier to let our expert team handle the removal for you.
