Furniture Disposal in Selby – We Do The Heavy Lifting
Furniture Disposal in Selby is what our dedicated two-man teams do best, saving you the hassle of moving bulky items through tight spaces. Instead of dragging a heavy sofa or wardrobe out to the pavement for a restrictive council collection, our staff will collect it straight from your lounge or upstairs bedroom. We are also an Environment Agency Registered waste carrier with licence number CBDU409710, offering a fully legal and stress-free service tailored to the unique layout of Selby and its surrounding rural villages.
Whether you are navigating the traffic bottlenecks near the old toll bridge or live down a narrow country lane, The Rubbish Removers Ltd are here to help. We are also proud to be a Which? Trusted Trader as well as a Trading Standards Approved “Buy with Confidence” member, guaranteeing peace of mind with every single collection. Simply point us to what needs to go and you can book our uniformed staff directly by calling 0113 420 8477. You can also send a photo to 07802 860 731 for a rapid, free quote.
Why Choose Us for Furniture Disposal in Selby?
1. We Collect From Inside: Unlike North Yorkshire Council with their strict pavement only rules, we happily come right into your lounge, kitchen or upstairs bedroom to do the heavy lifting for you.
3. Protection & Care: Floors, walls and doorways are looked after carefully. We take extra care when moving bulky items through Selby’s historic medieval street layouts and tight cottage doors, ensuring zero scratches to your property.
2. Speed: Same-day options are available if you call early. If your new three-piece suite is arriving today, we can clear the old one fast, using our local knowledge to plan routes that avoid the toll bridge traffic.
4. All Styles Taken: From heavy oak wardrobes and sectionals to recliner sofas and large bed frames, we handle it all. We also guarantee a fantastic landfill diversion rate, recycling as much of your old furniture as possible.

What We Take
- Sofas & Armchairs: Sectionals, recliners, Chesterfields as well as sofa beds.
- Bedroom Furniture: Wardrobes, chests of drawers, memory foam mattresses and also heavy bed frames.
- Dining Sets: Large oak dining tables, chairs as well as bulky sideboards.
- White Goods: American-style fridges, washing machines and also freezers.
Typical Jobs in Selby
- Farmhouse Furniture Disposal in rural Selby: We cleared a heavy oak dining set as well as bulky armchairs via our wait and load service. This easily navigated the tight rural lanes where a traditional skip wagon could not fit.
- Town Centre Bedroom Clearance near Selby Abbey: Our two-man team carefully removed mattresses and also wardrobes from a terraced property with a medieval layout. We took great care not to block narrow access routes or scratch the internal walls.
- Rural Fly-Tipping Recovery near the A19: We provided a rapid man and van clearance for illegally dumped broken furniture on a country road. We also issued a full Waste Transfer Note instantly to ensure total compliance.
How It Works
- Get a Quote: Give us a call or fill in our contact form. You can also WhatsApp a photo of your items to 07802 860 731.
- We Arrive: Our uniformed two-man team arrives within a specific time window. We will call you 30 minutes beforehand so you are never left waiting.
- We Remove: We carefully carry your furniture out from any room. We plan for stairs and tight corners beforehand to move items safely.
- Recycling: Rooms are left swept and ready to use immediately. Most of the furniture we collect is diverted from landfill and recycled or donated locally.
Typical Load Sizes & Pricing Guide
Single Item
Prices start from £80+VAT. Ideal for a standalone bulky item like a large sofa or heavy wardrobe. Cheaper and much faster than council collections.
Quarter Van Load
Roughly 2-3 cubic yards. This is perfect for clearing out a box room or removing an old three-piece suite.
Half Van Load
Roughly 6 cubic yards. In short, this is comparable capacity to a standard builders skip. Ideal for a large master bedroom clear-out with zero skip permit fees.
Full Van Load
12-14 cubic yards. This is suitable for a full house clearance or multiple rooms of heavy furniture.
You only pay for the exact space you fill, rather than paying for fresh air in a skip. Get a free quote today by sending a photo of your furniture to 07802 860 731.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Do I need to get the item to the ground floor?
A: No, absolutely not. Our two-man team collects from upstairs bedrooms, cellars or flats. We do all the heavy lifting safely while protecting your walls and floors.
Q: Do you take large or awkward items like corner sofas?
A: Yes, we also have the vehicles and tools to handle large and awkward items easily. We can dismantle oversized furniture if necessary to get it out of your property smoothly.
Q: Is your disposal legal?
A: Yes, completely. We are an Environment Agency Registered waste carrier (Licence CBDU409710) and provide a Waste Transfer Note with every job. Everything is processed at a licensed facility so your Duty of Care is fully met.
Q: Does North Yorkshire Council collect from inside my house?
A: No, the council is strict on a pavement-only policy. This is incredibly difficult for residents living in Selby’s older properties with medieval layouts or for those without a front garden to safely store heavy items.
Q: I live on a narrow rural lane near Selby, can you still help?
A: Yes, our vans are much more mobile than heavy skip lorries. We regularly navigate the tight farm lanes and older central streets of Selby without any issues at all.
Q: Can I take my own furniture to the local tip?
A: You can, but you must be careful if you borrow a commercial van to move heavy items. Local tips often enforce strict van permit systems and reject commercial vehicles. However, letting our team handle it saves you the heavy lifting and the complicated paperwork.
