What would your response be if you were given a black bin bag and told to be a litter picker in your area? Let me take a wild guess. “how much will I be paid”, “it’s way too cold”, I can’t be bothered.” Just some of the excuses. We all know that many citizens of communities gather together on a regular basis to do just this, to help keep their community a clean place to live in. But the latest story to hit the headlines not only on Facebook but now the national news is the story of one man, Eddie Kirkwood.
If you have never heard of him, once you have finished reading this piece, somewhere within your heart it will hopefully make you think twice next time you decide to discard of your waste through a car window, as has been seen many times or simply just toss it to the ground because you cannot be bothered to hold onto it until you reach a bin.
Eddie Kirkwood is 28 years of age and was born with Cerebral Palsy, a condition that has now left him wheelchair bound, this to many a person would leave them deflated and demotivated, especially for someone so young! Not Eddie, he decided to do something for his community and now spends 7 days a week, 8 hours a day, cleaning up other people’s rubbish but I am not going to continue with his story he is. If you clicked on the link above you will know he has a passion for football and all he needs is a power chair to be able to succeed with his team. Just Giving have now set up a site to try and raise this money for him, so if you have been inspired and would like to help him, donate now.
We at The Rubbish Removers, clear and dispose of domestic and commercial rubbish on a daily basis and while driving around are disgusted by how much waste people are willing to just dump anywhere without giving it a second thought.
